Some commercial road users in the Asafo Electoral Area within the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region have appealed to government and the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MRH) to ensure stagnant waters are cleared on the main street to prevent any possible accidents.
According to the drivers, the Asafo-Ahmadiyah highway continues to be unmotorable whenever it rains therefore compelling drivers to use other alternative routes in the area.
They added that the road also serve many laurels within the metropolis in terms of social events that normally take place at the stadium from the Kejetia and the Central Business District (CBD) as well.
Speaking to some commercial drivers who ply the road daily indicated that they will soon demonstrate to register their displeasure to the right quarters for address if care is not taken to address their plights.
The drivers made this known when a heavy downpour of rains flooded part of the road preventing them to see clearly.
However, the CEO of OBR Organization, Mr. Richard Karikari has also called on government and the Urban Roads Directorate as a matter of urgency to help addressed the situation.
He made this known when he visited the area to direct traffic following reports of possible accidents on the road.
However, the Assemblyman for Asafo Electoral Area, Hon. Ernest Okai called on government and the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MRH) to ensure the construction of the road for easy usage by pedestrians and drivers.
