Following the recent armed robbery in the Ashanti Region, Oli Best Road Safety Organization (OBR) together with the Personnel of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested 50 motorbikes all within the Kumasi Metropolis following government directives on Covid-19 protocols in the region.
The one day routine exercise by the organization and the police was geared towards also arresting culprits for number plates normally used for robbery and the use of helmet when riding.
The operations which took place at the Suame Roundabout and parts of Asafo all in the Metropolis which saw number of motorists arrested were later taken to the Central Command of the service for questioning.
Some of the riders were also arrested for not adhering to the social distancing protocols and the use of facemasks.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OBR, Mr. Kwame Karikari spoke to the News team about the exercise by the organization and the police in the region.
He also cautioned the public (Drivers and Motorists) to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols implemented by the government to fight against the spread of the virus in the country.
OBR News team spoke to the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP David Agyem the rationale behind the operation in the region and cautioned motorists in the region.
