A research conducted by Oli Best Road Safety (OBR) Organization Media organization in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) of the Ashanti Region has revealed that numerous number of road signs in the metropolis have been defected and some defaced in some parts of the metropolis as a result of human activities.
The research indicated that this can lead to road accidents in the metropolis if care is not taken to address the menace, as most of the road signs have been pulled down by some recalcitrant drivers and motorists within the region.
According to OBR Media reporters, areas like: Asafo market, Amakom, Asafo Labour Roundabout, Asafo Interchange commercial area have all been defected resulting to high number of accidents cases in the Subin sub-metro.
Meanwhile, Crosscheck made by OBR reporters in the region at various police stations within the Metropolis has also revealed that no offender has been arrested and prosecuted for such offence.
Research has also revealed that many road lanes used by pedestrians in crossing the street or highways have all been washed away posing danger to most pedestrians and road users.
However, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OBR Organization, Mr. Richard Karikari (KK) has cautioned road users particularly drivers and motorists to be mindful when using the road as a result of non existing road signs on our roads resulting to accidents.
OBR Media organization will continue to update the general public and the City Authorities when the need arises about the dangers on our roads as a result of defaced road signs on our roads.
